Group Description	Bill Viola's video installation The Messenger was sited in Durham Cathedral from 7th - 12th October 1996. The work was commissioned by the Chaplaincy to the Arts and Recreation in North East England with financial support from the National Lottery, Durham City Arts, Northern Arts and the European Regional Development Fund. Since its exhibition in Durham Cathedral the work has been on world tour and will eventually be permanently sited at the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Arts in Gateshead Deposit includes correspondence files from Durham City Arts and Northern Arts and publicity material 1995 = 1996
